Waurn Ponds Cricket Club Juniors
COME ON all you Junior Eagles!
Waurn Ponds Cricket Club has a young, exciting and growing junior cricket program including a Friday night MILO In2Cricket program, plus Under 11’s and Under 13’s teams. And we want YOU to be a part of it.
We proudly base our under 11 & 13 junior coaching program on the philosophy that “all kids get a fair go” irrespective of skill level and talent. Training is held weekly on a Wednesday night at Jarvis Oval.Our Junior Co-ordinator is Brenton Foote who was our Milo Cricket Coach last year and is currently on our Committee. We also welcome Ben Harbinson who will coach the Under 11’s after being an assistant last year. Ben is also on our Committee. Home games are held at the Lakeside Oval (map) in front of the main university buildings at Deakin’s Waurn Ponds campus, which provides a great backdrop and plenty of parking for you.
Membership & Consent / Requirements
Membership Fees for all junior players is ONLY $70 and covers the cost of playing and training equipment, balls, insurance and trophies. New players receive a club playing cap free-of-charge.
All Parents / Guardians must complete and sign a Membership / Affiliation & Medical Consent form to register their child with our Club. This form can also be used by parents / guardians registering their child for our Milo In2Cricket program.
Players should be a minimum of nine years of age by September 1, 2011 (for Under 11’s), although this is a guide and can be negotiated. Players turning 11 prior to September 1, 2011 will be required to play in our Under 13’s side, although exemptions based on a child’s ability can be obtained.
Game Night Sponsor(s)
Our game night ‘Player of the Match’ sponsor again this season is Bubba Pizza and the kids just love the pizza and softdrink at half time on the Friday night (home games only). Pizza slices and softdrinks are available for purchase at a very small fee. Parent’s / Guardian’s are encouraged to take a picnic dinner along to away matches, although some club’s do provide a BBQ. The consumption of alcohol by adults at junior matches is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN – this is about the kids!
MILO In2Cricket Program
Our MILO program also operates on Friday nights at the Jarvis Ovall, Waurn Ponds (map) b/w 5.45pm & 7.00pm, followed by a BBQ and drinks for both the children and adults.
